About

The Undergraduate Internship Program (UIP) is a new initiative from the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science to assist Samueli Engineering students by providing resources, information, and opportunities.

UIP hosts multiple workshops throughout the year to better prepare students for securing an internship, offers a seminar class further breaking down the internship process (ENGR 23: Finding an Industry Internship Seminar Course, runs a Consolidated On-Campus Recruitment Calendar and highlights job and internship postings and recruiting events in weekly email blasts to Samueli undergraduates.

Winter Quarter Industry Events

CIA Info Session
Meet with CIA representatives to learn more about the variety of career and paid internship opportunities available. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to sign up for 1-on-1 chats with CIA representatives.

SWE: Evening with Industry

Looking for an internship or full-time position? Find your fit at Evening with Industry (EWI), hosted by the Society of Women Engineers! Evening with Industry attracts 300+ students and representatives from 20+ companies annually. Students have the unique opportunity to network over a three-course dinner, with recruiters from their top-pick companies (SpaceX, Accenture, Honda, etc.) spanning all engineering industries from research and manufacturing to business and consulting. The earlier you sign-up, the more likely you are to receive your top choices!

Everyone is invited, regardless of gender. This year’s Evening with Industry will be held at Carnesale Commons on January 28th, 2025 from 5:30pm-10:00pm! Registration opens on 1/6 for nationally-recognized SWE members and 1/8 at 9 PM for all students.

Any registrations submitted before 1/8 by non-nationally recognized SWE members will not be considered. The fee for EWI starts at $7 for nationally-recognized SWE members and $12 for non-members. Tickets are first-come, first-served with weekly price increases, so secure your spot ASAP! Metropolitan Water District Internship
Position: Engineering YR Co-op Internship – $25/hour
Dates: July 1, 2025 – March 25, 2026

Students will participate in the Engineering Services Group Year-Round Cooperative Education Program through MWD, Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, Inc., and Cal Poly Pomona’s Center for Community Engagement. The program is designed to enhance students’ academic curriculum along with work experience.

Eligible for Co-op: Students must currently major in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, etc.).
Not Eligible for Co-op: Seniors graduating during the timeframe of the year-round program are ineligible to apply.

TSMC Internship Program
TSMC internship program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience, mentorship from industry experts, and a glimpse into the dynamic world of the semiconductor industry.

Summer Internship with the US Department of Energy
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program is a 10-week summer internship for undergraduate and master’s students in STEM majors. As an MLEF participant you will:
Complete a hands-on research project at one of DOE’s National Laboratories or DOE Headquarters.
Learn from our scientists and engineers how we are working to minimize the environmental and climate impacts of fossil fuels and industrial processes while working to achieve net-zero emissions.
Receive a weekly stipend. Travel and housing assistance is also available.

The MLEF Program may place students at one of several U.S. Department of Energy sites including but not limited to:
U.S. Department of Energy Headquarters
National Energy Technology Laboratory
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Los Alamos National Laboratory

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
