Event Update: In response to the current situation on campus, Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students will transition to virtual-events to ensure your safety and enable us to deliver an enjoyable and informative experience.

Congratulations to all our admitted UCLA Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science transfer students!  We would like to invite all admitted students and their families to join us at our virtual Discover UCLA Engineering for transfer students (DUET) events on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 2 – 4:30 PM.

We have a fun and informative day planned that starts with an Engineering Welcome from our deans and information from the Engineering Transfer Center about the Accelerator program for incoming engineering transfer students that starts the day after SIR in June. 

Our Engineering Welcome will follow with a virtual Community Expo where students can join Zoom sessions hosted by their Engineering Department.  You will be able to meet with faculty, staff and your academic counselors as well as student leaders from your department’s student organizations and design teams.  Returning engineering transfer students will be available to answer your questions about UCLA Engineering and transitioning your learning from your previous institution. Finally, the Engineering Undergraduate Internship & Research Program and Engineering Transfer Center staff will host a session to share information and answer your questions.

Our Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students event will start off with a Welcome and Overview session where you will hear from Richard Wesel, Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs along with Wes Uehara, Director of the Engineering Transfer Center about how the the School of Engineering will support you as a transfer student!

Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students – Virtual Community Expo

Saturday, May 11, 2024 | 3:00 – 5:00 PM | Zoom session schedule & links can be found in the Community Expo section below.

 

Join us at the virtual Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students (DUET) Community Expo! You will have an opportunity to meet the Engineering Transfer Center staff and talk to current engineering transfer students about why they chose UCLA Engineering. Attendees will have an opportunity to speak with faculty, staff, and student leaders from our student organizations and design teams about what their departments have to offer. Also attending will be staff from the UCLA Samueli Undergraduate Internship and Research Program. Visit with them to inquire about how to secure a summer internship or get involved in academic research!

Exhibitors from the following UCLA Engineering offices and organizations will host Community Expo virtual Zoom sessions:

  • Session 1: UCLA Samueli Engineering Departments & Student Chapter of your Department’s Professional Engineering organization
  • Session 2: School Programs & Academic Counselors

Virtual Follow-up Q & A Session

Thursday, May 23, 2024 | 5:00 – 6:30 PM | Zoom session link

The UCLA Engineering Ambassadors, Engineering Transfer Center staff and current engineering transfer students will host a virtual follow-up Q & A session for admitted transfer students before the deadline to Submit your Intent to Register (SIR). This event will be virtual and hosted on Zoom. The session link will be emailed on the morning of the event to those who register.

Discover Engineering for Transfers - Virtual Community Expo

Starting at 3PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science will host the Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students Virtual Community Expo. We will host 2 sessions at the Community Expo. Here are the details:

Engineering Department sessions from 3:00 – 4:00 PM – see below for Zoom session links

Attendees can visit their Engineering Department session to meet with faculty or staff who can answer questions about  courses, research, opportunities and programs for students in their Department.  Participants can also meet with student leaders from their student chapter of professional engineering organization and design teams to hear about their exciting projects and how they help students to succeed at Bruin Engineering and connect with alumni who are already working in industry. Please feel free to visit with other department sessions if you are interested in learning more.  Keep in mind that UCLA does not allow transfer students to change their major.

Join this session to ask questions about how the School’s Undergraduate Internship & Research Program can help you to land that internship or connect with a research lab.  Staff from the Engineering Transfer Center will be available to answer questions and speak more about our summer Accelerator and academic year programs.  Students can join a break-out room to ask a current eTransfer Student a question about their decision to choose Bruin Engineering and what their experience has been like.  Finally, your Academic Counselors will be available to answer questions about next steps, summer orientation, how to get your courses evaluated, and can provide you a link to sample 2 year plans for engineering transfer students.
