Engineering Graduate Students Association (eGSA) at UCLA
UCLA’s eGSA student group represents the graduate students of the seven departments of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (HSSEAS). We host events for graduate students, work with the administration and strive to make the graduate experience productive, smooth, fruitful and fun.
Graduate Society of Women Engineers (GradSWE) UCLA
Our UCLA GradSWE student group advocates for women graduate engineers and provides resources, tools and opportunities for professional development and networking. Its mission is to support, inspire, and empower the current and future female engineering community to excel in all endeavors. UCLA GradSWE accomplishes this by: (1) fostering a welcoming and inclusive community through education, advocacy, and respect for all individuals; (2) providing professional and personal development through workshops and networking; (3) encouraging members to become role models for future generations through leadership and mentorship opportunities; and (4) serving as a resource for information pertaining to women engineers through events, social media, and online distributions.

Trinny Tat
Bioengineering
A second-year doctoral student designing portable bioelectronics for Parkinson’s disease monitoring. She is a member of Professor Jun Chen’s Wearable Bioelectronics Research Group and is a recipient of the National Defense Science and Engineering Fellowship.
Joshua Misa
Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering
A third-year doctoral student in chemical and biochemical engineering researching the production of natural products in Professor Yi Tang’s research group. He participates in UCLA’s cultural offerings including performing with the Game Music Ensemble and Symphonic Band.
Pia Ramos
Civil & Environmental Engineering
A graduate student in civil and environmental engineering. She is a member of Professor Shaily Mahendra’s research group which specializes in environmental microbiology.
Glen Meyerowitz
Electrical & Computer Engineering
A graduate student in electrical and computer engineering on track to receive his master’s degree later this year. He has participated in several collaborative programs at UCLA, including the Biodesign program, which lies at the intersection of engineering, health care and business. Meyerowitz is advised by Professor Achuta Kadambi.
Aileen Villalpando
Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering
A first-year doctoral student in mechanical and aerospace engineering. She is a member of Professor Veronica Santos’ Biomechatronics Laboratory and is interested in working in Southern California’s aerospace industry.
Maggie Fox
Materials Science & Engineering
A third-year doctoral student in materials science and engineering. She is focused on energy storage devices and is a member of Professor Bruce Dunn’s research group. She has also fostered interests in interdisciplinary research and science outreach through on-campus programs.
