Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students experience!

Each year, we invite admitted transfer students and their families to join us at the Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students (DUET), an in-person event designed to welcome new transfer students to the UCLA Engineering community. This is an annual event held on the same day as Transfer Bruin Day.  Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer students features a fun and informative program that begins with an Engineering Welcome & Overview presentation and follows with our Community Expo.

Engineering Welcome & Overview

Our Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students event starts off with a Welcome from the deans and Wesley Uehara, Director of the Engineering Transfer Center.  Attendees will hear how the UCLA Engineering Transfer Center supports our transfer students, including our summer Accelerator program for incoming engineering transfer students that starts in June immediately after the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) deadline.

Following this session, current UCLA Engineering Transfer Students and Engineering Ambassadors will escort attendees over to our Engineering Community Expo!

Community Expo

Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students (DUET) continues with our Engineering Community Expo where attendees will have an opportunity to meet the Engineering Transfer Center staff and talk to current engineering transfer students about why they chose UCLA Engineering and their experience since transferring.  Guests will have an opportunity to speak with faculty, staff, or current students about what their departments have to offer and how they are preparing our engineering students for careers in professional engineering and to be future leaders in our community.  An excellent way to round-out your Bruin Engineering experience is to join one of our over 110 engineering student organizations, design teams, and honor societies. Check out our engineering student groups and design teams showcasing their projects, prototypes, and activities. In addition to this exciting work, attendees can ask them how they help their members to connect with alumni working in industry.  Staff from the UCLA Samueli Undergraduate Internship and Research Program will be in attendance. Visit with them to inquire about how to secure a summer internship or get involved in academic research! Finally, our academic counselors will be at our Community Expo to answer questions about next steps.

Virtual Q & A session

Following the DUET in-person events, we will offer a Virtual Q & A session for students who are unable to attend our in-person event and students who have additional questions before the SIR deadline. This event, which will be a Q & A session-only, will be hosted by the Engineering Transfer Center staff, current engineering transfer students, and representatives from our Engineering Ambassador’s program.
