Discover Engineering 2024

Welcome to your exclusive

Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students experience!

Congratulations to all our admitted UCLA Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science transfer students!  We would like to invite all admitted students and their families to join us at the Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students (DUET) in-person event on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 3:00 – 5:30 PM.

We have a fun and informative day planned that starts with an Engineering Welcome from our deans in Mong Auditorium (Engineering 6 Room 180).  Attendees will also hear information from the Engineering Transfer Center about the Accelerator program for incoming engineering transfer students that starts the day after SIR in June.

At 4PM, our Engineering Ambassadors will walk students over to the Community Expo in the Court of Sciences where you can meet with student leaders from our student organizations and design teams. You’ll also meet with our current engineering undergraduates, faculty or staff from your departments. Returning engineering transfer students will be available to answer your questions about UCLA Engineering and transitioning your learning from your previous institution. From the School of Engineering Office of Academic and Student Affairs, our Undergraduate Internship & Research Program, Engineering Transfer Center, and the Academic Counselors will be available to share information and answer questions.

DUET is part of the larger Transfer Bruin Day event for all students who have been admitted to UCLA as transfer students. Come to Transfer Bruin Day to learn about UCLA-campus and your experience as a Bruin and join us at DUET to learn about engineering and how UCLA Engineering will support you toward your goal of  a career in professional engineering!

Community Expo, Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students

Saturday, May 10, 2025 | 4:00 – 5:30 PM | Court of Sciences

Discover UCLA Engineering for Transfer Students (DUET) continues with our Community Expo from 4:00 – 5:30 PM in the Court of Sciences.

You will have an opportunity to meet the Engineering Transfer Center staff and talk to current engineering transfer students about why they chose UCLA Engineering and their experience since transfer.

Attendees will have an opportunity to speak with faculty, staff, or current students about what their departments have to offer and how they are preparing our engineering students for careers in professional engineering and to be future leaders in our community.

An excellent way to round-out your Bruin Engineering experience is to join one of our over 120 engineering student organizations, design teams, and honor societies.  Check-out our engineering student groups and design teams showcasing their projects, prototypes, and activities.  In addition to this exciting work, attendees can ask them how they help their members to connect with alumni working in industry.

Staff from the UCLA Samueli Undergraduate Internship and Research Program will be in attendance. Visit with them to inquire about how to secure a summer internship or get involved in academic research! Finally, your academic counselors will be there to answer questions about next steps.

Join us at the Community Expo to gain an introduction to our Bruin Engineering community and to get your questions answered to help you to decide to join us in the Fall.
