2022 Commencement

Commencement Eligibility, Participation, and Ticket Information

Students who wish to participate in the 2022 Commencement please carefully review each of the following steps.  You must complete each step and meet all eligibility requirement to participate in your respective ceremony and be activated for student ticket ordering.

  • FALL 2021 and Winter 2022 graduates should be automatically eligible to participate and may proceed to Steps 2 – 4

  • SPRING 2022 and SUMMER 2022 are eligible to participate and will receive updates if they complete Steps 1 – 4

  • FALL 2022 students are not automatically eligible to participate in the engineering commencement.  Please complete Step 1 and read additional info below.


 

Step 1

Declare your intent to complete your degree in Spring 2022 or Summer 2022

UNDERGRADUATES – Engineering Undergraduates do this by completing the required online  degree audit process.

GRADUATES (MS/PHD) – Engineering Graduate students do this by notifying your department student affairs officer of your intent to graduate.
Please do this no later than Friday, April 22, 2022.  See contact list below.

FALL 2022 SPECIAL REQUEST – DEGREE CANDIDATES WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE THIS SPRING

STEP 1 you can complete as early as week 1 of Spring 2022 and no later than April 22, 2022. 

Undergraduates who completed the degree audit process (STEP 1 above) and indicated YES on the Special Request Option of the degree candidacy form are automatically approved!  Please begin to pay attention to e-mail notices from commencement@seas.ucla.edu (make sure they do NOT go to your spam folder) and you can now move on to STEP 2 below.

Graduates who informed their graduate department and provided their information are also automatically approved!  Please begin to pay attention to e-mail notices from commencement@seas.ucla.edu (make sure they do NOT go to your spam folder) and you can now move on to STEP 2 below.


 

Step 2

Login/Complete the applicable Exit Survey

 

We ask that you complete the survey in one sitting.  Do not exit or close out as this may result in an error.  

It is STEP 1 that grants access to the exit surveys.
If you recently completed this step please allow 24-72 business hours for access to the survey. 

 


 

Step 3

UPDATE PRIVACY RESTRICTION AND REVIEW PROGRAM LISTING INFORMATION No later than April 22, 2022.

Fall 2022 Special Requests students who are “walking” this year are not listed in this year’s brochure.
You will be listed in next year”s brochure with your official class. 
However,  your name will be called, you will cross the stage, your photo taken, just like all the other candidates! (See STEP 4, About the Ceremony).


 

Step 4

ORDER YOUR STUDENT PARTICIPATION TICKET AND YOUR GUEST TICKETS  (REQUIRED)

THE TICKET ORDERING TIMELINE via MYUCLA HAS PASSED.  THE DEADLINE WAS 05/25 11:59PM.

LATE TICKET REQUESTS – Students who missed the deadline and would like to participate and order late tickets can contact us through the engineering commencement message center and provide the following information no later than Thursday, June 2, 2022:

  • Degree Term:
  • Degree Type (BS/MS/MEng./PHD):
  • CEREMONY:  Saturday, June 11, 2022 (BS) or Sunday, June 12, 2022 (MS/MEng/PHD)
  • Guest Tickets No. (8 max):
  • Acknowledgement – Yes, I confirm that I understand that the first 4 tickets are free. Additional tickets beyond 4 will incur a $20.00 charge; no refunds.

 

EXTRA TICKET REQUESTS  – Students who already ordered tickets, but would like to be considered for more tickets beyond their current order can submit requests through the engineering commencement message center and provide the following information:

  • CEREMONY:  Saturday, June 11, 2022 (BS) or Sunday, June 12, 2022 (MS/MEng/PHD)
  • NO. OF EXTRA TICKETS BEING REQUESTED:
  • Acknowledgement – Yes, I confirm that I understand that the first 4 tickets are free. Additional tickets beyond 4 will incur a $20.00 charge; no refunds.

We hope to review your request for extra tickets next week after we review all current orders and subject to availability.

 

DETAILS:  Eligible Students were able to order one (1) student participation ticket and eight (8)* guest tickets where the first four (4) guest tickets are free.
Additional guest tickets after the first four will be at a cost of $20.00 per ticket.  Students will see these ticket charges automatically on their Bruin Bill.  Due to restrictive limited venue capacity we cannot exceed eight (8) guest tickets at this time.   All students and their guest(s) are required to have tickets to gain entrance into Pauley Pavilion.

*we are pleased to announce we have been able to increase guest ticket allotment from six (6) to eight (8) effective 05/20.  Students were able to update existing orders through 05/25/2022 11:59PM.  This deadline has passed.  Please see above for late ticket order requests or requests for extra tickets.

 

TICKET DELIVERY METHOD –  DIGITAL TICKETS WILL BE SENT VIA E-MAIL
The UCLA Central Ticket Office will be sending digital electronic tickets via e-mail to your e-mail address (as it is indicated in MyUCLA) beginning Friday, May 27th  through Friday, June 10th.  E-mail distributions will be done on a rolling basis as CTO begin to fulfill all orders.

You will receive e-mail messages from tickets@cto.ucla.edu that contain links for you to receive your tickets.  You will receive one e-mail message for your student participation ticket and one e-mail message for your guest tickets.  Be sure you check the email account you have on record in MyUCLA, and check that email account’s spam folder for your ticket messages.  Check your spam folder frequently, as you don’t want to miss receiving your tickets.  Some email providers empty spam folders regularly.

NOTE: If you are attending multiple ceremonies (e.g.: you are a double major with the College of Letters and Science or you are PHD student also participating in the Graduate Division Hooding then note that you will receive separate student ticket e-mails and separate guest e-mails for each ceremony.  Therefore, you may receive a total of four email messages with links for you to claim your tickets for each ceremony.  We advise you pay close attention to your e-mail notices and digital ticket information.

 

THE BILLING PROCESS –  charges will be posted to your BruinBill and there are no refunds!

Charges for tickets are assessed when the order is placed in MyUCLA and processed through your Bruin Bill.  The first four guest tickets are free; each additional guest ticket will be charged $20.00.  Once ordered, students are charged for guest tickets and parking permits whether or not they are picked up or used.  No refunds are issued. 

Charges related to Commencement events will be posted to your Bruin Bill. There will be two billing cycles where you will see charges. 1) Monday, May 30th and 2) Friday, June 17th.

PARKING – students and guests can purchase parking permits online.

ABOUT THE CEREMONY:
Students who elect to participate in commencement agree to remain for the full length of the ceremony out of respect for your fellow students and their families.

  • Undergraduates (BS) – Saturday, June 11, 2022 12:30PM – 3:30PM (estimated 3 hours)
    All students participating will have their names read, will cross the stage, and have photos taken by Grad Images (the official campus photo team)
  • Graduates (MS/MENG/PHD) – Sunday, June 12, 2022 1:30PM – 3:30PM (estimated 2 hours)
    All students participating will have their names read, will cross the stage, and have photos taken by Grad Images (the official campus photo team)
    Additionally, PHD students will be hooded on stage.

Please be sure that your email address in MyUCLA is kept up to date and that you pay attention to messages that may be coming from the UCLA engineering domain @seas.ucla.edu. This includes making sure your spam filters are updated so that these message do not go to junk/spam.
