MATLAB Workshop: Winter 2014
The Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science is offering a special workshop to provide a formal introduction to MATLAB during the winter break (after the Fall 2013 quarter ends). The workshop will be led by graduate students who have extensive experience with MATLAB.
REQUISITE: MATH 33A (Linear Algebra and Applications) is highly recommended to be completed before you take the workshop. Also, if you've taken CS 31 or C++, the pace of this workshop may seem a bit slow for you, however, you may still benefit from the information being taught.
REGISTRATION & FEES: Currently open to HSSEAS undergraduates only!*
There will be a $100 registration fee. Once paid, the fee is nonrefundable!
Register and pay HERE. (WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL AND CLOSED FOR SIGNUP)
Sign up to be on the Wait List HERE.
(Please note that getting on the Wait List does not guarantee a seat in the workshop. There is a very small change that students drop from the workshop. However, students on the Wait List will have priority in notification of future Matlab workshops.)
The workshop enrollment is limited to 65 participants, so sign up early!
WORKSHOP SCHEDULE: The workshop will be held over 4 days and include approximately 24 hours of classroom instruction outlined as follows:
- Saturday, December 14, 2013 (8:30AM-12PM; 1PM-4PM)
- Sunday, December 15, 2013 (9AM-12PM; 1PM-4PM)
- Monday, December 16, 2013 (9AM-12PM; 1PM-4PM)
- Tuesday, December 17, 2013 (9AM-12PM; 1PM-4PM)
NOTE: If you are currently living in the dorms (UCLA Housing), please note that your move out date for housing is scheduled for December 13th by 10pm. If you plan on attending this workshop and will need to extend your move-out date, UCLA housing is charging $43 dollars per day. Therefore, if you plan to attend the MATLAB Workshop and will be needing to extend your UCLA Housing (at $43 dollars per day), please contact me immediately after you have registered for the MATLAB Workshop so I can notify UCLA housing to extend your stay.
COURSE STRUCTURE: Students who pay the fee will be "invited" to the official course page being monitored by the Lab Assistants and informed about the class location. It will be held in a lab and each person will have a computer station with access to the MATLAB software. There are 8 Lab Assistants and each Lab Assistant will cover the below topics:
Introduction of MATLAB
Programming in MATLAB
SIgnal & Image Processing
Calculus and Optimization
Modeling and Simulink
Students will be invited to complete projects and those who successfully complete 14 out of 16 projects will receive a certificate of completion for the workshop. The project time is optional and can be done from 4PM-5PM after each session in the same lab room.
This workshop DOES NOT serve as a replacement for Civil and Environmental Engineering 15.
